Joyce Rush Bishop

SANTA FE – Joyce Rush Bishop went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 9, 2004. She was born August 27, 1933, in Arcadia, Texas to F. D. and Annie Rush. Joyce retired from Kroger in Texas City after 25 years and was a member of Alvin Missionary Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held Friday, May 14, 2004, at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson, Texas with Pastor Darrell Streater officiating. Interment will follow at Grace Memorial Park in Hitchcock, Texas. A visitation will be held Thursday, May 13, 2004, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Crowder Funeral Home in Dickinson, Texas.

Joyce will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 32 years, Don Bishop of Santa Fe; daughter, Beverly Chilton of San Antonio; daughter, Janell Carpenter and husband, Art of Santa Fe; daughter, Karla Marullo and husband, Paul of Santa Fe; son, Dwain Bruce and wife, Terry of Santa Fe. Her grandchildren, Steven Sebesta of Brownwood, Texas; Samuel Sebesta of Houston; LCPL Arthur Carpenter IV of U. S. Marine Corps; Crystal Carpenter of New Braunsfel; Trenton Marullo of Santa Fe; her namesake Taylor "Joyce" Marullo of Santa Fe; Amanda Bruce of Austin; and Christopher Bruce of Santa Fe. She is also survived by her sister Helen Ray and husband, D.D. of Santa Fe; brother, Lynn Rush of La Marque; special friends, Verna Childs, Isabelle Chambers, and Donna Timberlake, along with a host of other loving relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father F. D. and Annie Rush; brother, Leon Rush and Mother-in-law, Maxene Bishop.

Pallbearers will be Eddie Childs, L. O. Chambers, Frank Marullo, Jack Elgin, Jose Corvalon, and Curtis White.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude and thanks for the loving care she received from Dr. B. T. Turakhia; Dr. Cesar Nahas and Dr. John Johnston and the ICU-1 and ER staff of Clear Lake Hospital and the Santa Fe EMS.
