Mrs. Brown was the daughter of William and Savilla Woods and was born February seventh 1868 in the town of Oxford. She has been a resident of this village for the past fourteen years, where she had a host of friends who will miss her. She was a devoted wife and mother and the loss will indeed be great to those nearest and dearest to her. Mrs. Brown was a faithful and active worker in the Methodist church and societies, also a member of Otse-Una Rebekah and Pocahontas Lodges, where her helpfulness was greatly appreciated.
The funeral services which were largely attended by relatives and members of the fraternities which she belonged were held in the Methodist Episcopal church Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, the Rev. Wilbur C. Dodge officiating. Burial in Evergreen Hill cemetery. Deceased is survived by her husband, one daughter, Miss Ruth R., and four sons, Paul E. of Afton, Clyde G., Earl E., Ray W., of this village, also three brothers, Simon Woods of Oxford and Alfred Woods of Norwich, Isaac Woods, Binghamton, and one sister, Mrs. Victor Scott of this village, a brother-in-law, Lafayette Horton of McGraw, and several nieces, two of whom, Miss Jessie Horton and Mrs. Bessie Stafford, who were in attendance at the funeral.
To the bereaved family the sincere sympathy of their numerous friends in the community is extended.
