Her parents immigrated to the United States from Norway in 1872, only a few months after the deaths of three of their children, all of whom died within a period of three weeks, during an outbreak of scarlet fever.
Inga married Arnold James Henry Niemann in Cook County, Illinois, on June 22 1915. They had no children of their own, but they did raise, for a time, her niece, Eleanor Endresen, daughter of Inga's brother, Henry.
