OBITUARY - Mrs. Maud Brown
Dora Maude Everhart, daughter of Silas Crawford and Jennie Everhart, was born May 19, 1880, in Clay County, Mo. and departed from this life October 17, 1964, at the age of 84 years, 8 months and 7 days at Grisell Memorial Hospital of Ransom, Kansas.

She moved to Ness County as a child of six. Maude, along with her 12 brothers and sisters, suffered the hardships of the early pioneers.

She was an active member of the Assembly of God Church in McCracken., She gave her hear to the Lord as a young child and served him faithfully through the years.

She was a devoted mother to her children and was always ready to help anyone in need. She had an unwavering faith, which helped her to be cheerful and patient during the last two years of her life which were spent in hospitals.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George, who passed away December 19, 1959; her mother and father, and one sister and seven brothers.

She leaves to mourn her passing her children: Five sons, Melvin and George Jr. of Brownell, Jess of Ness City, Robert of Fowler, Colorado, Walter of McCracken; three daughters, Mrs. Nellie Weeks of Ness City, Mrs. Stella Barkley of Topeka, Knasas, Mrs. Pearl Craig of Bazine; 34 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; two brother, Lee Everhart of Fort Scott and Clarence Everhart of Ransom; two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Warnow of Salina, and Mrs. Lula McMichael of Pueblo, Colorado.

Funeral services were held from the Assembly of God Church in McCracken on Monday, October 19th at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. J.J. Krimmer and Rev. Ben Falley in charge.

Interment was in Brownell Cemetery.

George and Maude Dora 50th Anniversary

Mr. & Mrs. George William Brown will observe their fiftieth wedding anniversary Sunday, September 22, at their home with the open house from two untill five for all of their friends and relatives.

They were united in marriage at Ransom, Kansas on September 24, 1896, by Rev. Gunkle, and Mr. Brown took his bride, the former Maude Everhart of Ransom, to his home in Danby Valley Southwest of Brownell and they have resided in that community all of their fifty years of wedded life. Their present home is on the land homesteaded by Mr. Brown's father. Mr. Brown came with his parents to Danby Valley on May 10, 1881, from Cathrop, Mo. and settled on this land.

Mrs. Brown is also a pioneer of Ness County, having came her with her parents from Miami County, Kansas in 1886 and settled in the Ransom community.

They expect all of their eight children and their families home for the occasion, with the exception of one son Robert, who now lives in North Carolina and who spent two weeks with his parents in August of this year.

Their children are: Mrs. Herbert Barkley, Sublette; Mrs. Jack Weeks, Brownell; Mrs. Johnny Craig, Copeland; Melvin Walter and George Jr., both of Brownell; Jesse of Utica; Robert of North Carolina.
