ADEL - A funeral for Billy Joe Payne, 53, of Adel will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 21, 1992 at Fisher Funeral Home at Adel, with burial following at Oakdale Cemetery at Adel. Mr. Payne died of a respiratory ailment on Aug. 18 at Veterans Administration Medical Center at Des Moines.

He was born at Bethany, Mo. and had lived at Adel for 10 years. Prior to that, he lived at Perry. He was a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife, Jane; two daughters, Elizabeth Payne of Germany and Heather Payne of Adel; a step-daughter, Lori West of Des Moines; a step-son, David Foerster of Searsboro; two sisters, Sylvia Woodard of Perry and Becky Beaver of Des Moines; five brothers, Duane of Bloomfield, Basil of Oklahoma, Garland and Stacy, both of Minburn, and Darrell of Ottumwa; four step-sisters, Virginia Lee Grabill of California, Viola Hickman of Minburn, Vera Pruitt of Redfield and Freda Hadley of Ankeny; five step-brothers, Richard Grabill of Bethany, Mo., William Grabill of Colorado Springs, Colo., Harvey Grabill of Minburn, Cecil Grabill of Washington and Oscar Grabill of Des Moines; one grandson; and one step-granddaughter.
