Illness Fatal to Miss Wellons
Miss Kate Wellons, 65, a life-long resident of Perry, died at her home here early Sunday morning after a brief illness. She had been in declinging health for several years.
Miss Wellons' mother, Mrs. Nancy Blewster Wellongs, died here last year at the age of 94 years.
Miss Wellons is survived by four sisters: Mrs. J.V. Wallace of Atlanta; Mrs. E.C. Leverette of Warner Robins; Mrs. S.G. Rogers of Miami, Fla.; and Mrs. J.L. Riley of Uniontown, Pa., and a brother, Tom B. Wellons of Perry; 16 nieces and nephews, and 16 great nieces and nephews.
She was a member of the Perry Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held at the Gardner Watson Funeral Home Tuesday afaternoon, with the Rev. J.A. Ivey officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery. Pallbearers were W.G. Riley, C.E. Andrew, W.C. Jones, Charlie Howard, Tom Mobley and Alton Hardy.
