Thelma Bernice McCurry, a former Yale resident, passed away on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at her home in Chouteau, OK at the age of 82 years.

Graveside services have been entrusted to the care of the Palmer Marler Funeral Home in Yale and will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, September 17, 2012 in the Lawson Cemetery, Yale, OK.

The daughter of the late Boyce Briggs and Edna (Persing) Briggs, Thelma was born on May 25, 1930 in Yale, OK. She was reared and educated in Yale, graduating from Yale High School.

Thelma was a Gold Star Mother and through this she became active in supporting numerous veterans groups. She often volunteered for the "Moving Wall," traveling to many communities to help in any way she could. She was a member of the Pryor American Legion Post Auxiliary. Her friends and family will remember her for her love to cook and the joy she had in sharing her food with them.

Survivors include five children, Mike Isbell and his wife Cyd of Ponca City, OK, Pat (Isbell) Ogan of Spring Hill, MO, Brenda (Dunkin) Roper and her husband Elliot of Pryor, OK, Daniel Stewart and his wife Crystal of Locust Grove, OK, and Penny (Stewart) Piguet and her husband Tom, of Grove; one sister, Twyla Berger and her husband Bill of Yale, OK; several grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Thelma was preceded in death by her husband's Carl Isbell and Clyde Stewart; two sons, James Isbell and Gifford Isbell; and two brothers, Jack Briggs and Virgil Briggs.
