Frank R. Melvin, 80, of Stroudsburg, died Friday, February 10, at home. He was the husband of Betty I. (Miller) Melvin to whom he had been married since 1951.

Born on March 19, 1925 in Stroudsburg, he was the son of the late Redmond D. and Martha (Eschenbach) Melvin and had lived in Monroe County all of his life.

A 1943 graduate of Stroudsburg High School, he was a successful builder of homes for 35 years having retired in 1983.

Frank was a life member of the Saw Creek Hunting and Fishing Association in Pike County; a life member of the Monroe County Master Builders and had attended the Faith United Methodist Church in Stroud Township. He enjoyed building houses having built his first house for sale in 1948 at the age of 23.

He is survived by a nephew, Raymond Morris and his wife, Marsha of Minnisota; two nieces, Susan Dody of Florida and Louise Marley Laurich and her husband, Larry of California; and a stepbrother, Charles McCartney and his wife, Alma of East Stroudsburg. He was preceded in death by sisters, Dorothy Ulm, Katherine Morris and Helen Marley.
