Russell H. Platz, 78, professor emeritus of music at Wheaton College, died Wednesday in Central Du Page Hospital in Winfield. Mr. Platz retired as music professor at the college in 1983 after 33 years. He is survived by his wife, Lydia; two sons, Philip and Eric; two daughters, Darlys Hummel and Dr. Mary Lee; a granddaughter; a brother; and a sister. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the College Church in Wheaton, Washington and Seminary Streets.
