Richard Warren Brock was the son of Walter Burritt Brock and his wife, Mabel Louise Chapin. He was named in honor of the Mayflower pilgrim, Richard Warren, from whom he was a direct descendant.
He attended Middlebury College, Vermont, graduating in 1944. He met his future wife, Marion (Bunny) Murray while in Vermont. He served in the US Army during World War II.
Richard and Bunny were married in Middlebury, Vermont on 13 June 1944. They had four children - Susan, Kimberly, Christopher and Jason.
He died at his home in Vermont on 7 February 2010, two weeks shy of his 87th birthday.
