Rosemary was born Feb. 18, 1922, in Quincy, a daughter of Louis and Corine Bordenkircher Markert.
She graduated from St. Mary's Academy in Mount Sterling and then went on to graduate from beautician school in Quincy.
On Feb. 6, 1946, married Lawrence Henry Smith in Mount Sterling. He died in 1997.
Rosemary had been a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in West Point, Illinois; St. Thomas in Camp Point, and was currently a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Carthage and also the Catholic Women's Club.
She and Lawrence enjoyed camping and traveling. Rosemary especially enjoyed time with her family.
Rosemary is survived by five children:
Larry (Judy) Smith of Manassas, Va
Denny (Barb) Smith of Naples, Fla
Ronald (Mary) Smith of Bowen, Illinois
John (Janice) Smith of Bowen
Judy (Lynn) McGaughey of Carthage
Also 17 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren a sister, Joan Buck of Springfield, Illinois and her many friends
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lawrence; and a brother, Louis Markert.
Services 10 a.m. Saturday,Sept 15,2012 in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Carthage, burial in Evergreen Cemetery in Camp Point, Illinois
Visitation 3 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Printy Funeral Home in Carthage with family meeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
