From History of Allegheny County page 416 Goodman Y. Coulter, retired farmer ,post office Bridgeville,one of the oldest citizens of South Fayette township, was born in 1804,the third youngest son of eight children born to Moses and Margery(Fawcett)Coulter, and now the only survivor of the family. Goodman Young Coulter was born and reared on a farm, and educated at a log school. His first business venture was the management of his father`s grist mill, which he successfully carried on for over twenty five years,also in the meantime farming. Mr. Coulter was first married in 1825 to Euphemia Middleswarth, daughter of Moses Middleswarth, an early pioneer of Allegheny County and to this union was born nine children. After Euphemia`s death, Goodman married Julia McKown and they had three children.
