Son of David Sherman Baker & Mary Cahoone Waite Baker.

Private, Company H, 4th Rhode Island Volunteer Infantry Regiment. Enlisted on 13 Sep 1861. He was killed in the Battle of Newbern 14 Mar 1862 at 17 years of age. His body arrived back in Wickford 16 Apr 1862.

The G. A. R. Post in North Kingstown was named C. C. Baker 16 in his honor.
