JoAnn A. Rankin, 71, Minot, died Thursday, January 24, 2008, in her home.

JoAnn Anita Iverson was born May 6, 1936 to Joe and Ida (Suko), Iverson in Thunder Hawk, SD. She was raised and educated in Velva, Tioga and Minot. She lived in Tioga, ND, Montana, Texas, California and Iowa. She moved to Minot where she lived the remainder of her life.

In 1956, she married Fred Rankin and later divorced. She worked several jobs in the process of being a single mother. She enjoyed and loved her family, sharing with friends the close relationship she had with each one.

JoAnn was employed at K-Mart for 26 years as a sales clerk, department manager and night stock clerk, retiring January 4, 1998. While at K-Mart she was a friend to all co-workers.

JoAnn attended Adult Education in 1987, receiving her General Education Diploma in 1988. She was a very caring person and would help those in need and lend a listening ear to anyone who needed someone to talk to.

Joann was once a member of First Presbyterian Church, attended Our Redeemers Lutheran Church and was currently a member of the Salvation Army Church. At each one she served on committees, help making quilts, preparing food, and numerous areas of need.

JoAnn was a member of the American Legion and the VFW Auxiliaries, volunteering for many projects to help our Veterans and youth. She was an accomplished seamstress, enjoyed reading, quilting, embroidery, cooking, baking, gardening, and traveling.

Those who shared in her life: Daughter: Terrie Bly, Velva ND; Son: Ed (Nyla) Rankin, Murray, Utah; Grandchildren: Jamie (James) Mohndro, Torrie, Lindsay, Eddie, Dallas, Whitney; Great Grandson: Scott Mohundro; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

JoAnn was preceded in death by her parents; son: Fred Rankin; and brothers: Virgil (Bud)and Edmund Iverson.

Funeral: Friday, February 1, 2008, at 2:30 p.m.at the Salvation Army Church, Minot, ND;
Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND
Visitation: There will be no reviewal, however, family and friends may sign a memorial register book on Thursday, January 31, 2008, from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
Memorials: Memorials are preferred to the Salvation Army of Minot.
