I was first discharged in Washington, S.C. by expiration of my term of enlistment. I again reenlisted in May 1862. I was discharged next in 1865 by reason of the close of the war.
The battles in which I was engages and participated were Chickamauga, Holly Springs, Vicksburg, Jackson, Kennesaw, Jonesboro, Bentonville, Mission Ridge. I was taken prison August 30th 1862 by General Kirby Smith in Kentucky.
A few of my most intimate comrades were General Reuben Williams, Francis M. Jaques and Joseph Coar.
I have not time to go into detail in any other even in connection with my military service as I am engaged in railroading."
