Moses Emerson was the first Emerson to come to McDonough. He lived on East Street (which is now State Rte 220). Moses was the father of Veranes Constantine (V.C.) Emerson. He married a McDonough girl by the name of Ruth Morley and they had seven children. One of those children was Winifred and she was married to Dr. Weaver.
V.C. and Robert Emerson each owned a store at one time. Robert married Grace Stuart of McDonough. The Stuarts owned a sawmill on East Street by the bridge.
