James "J. B." Campbell, 84, of Russellville, formerly of Hot Springs, died Sunday, October 19, 2008, at the John L. McClellan Memorial Veterans Hospital in Little Rock.
He was born July 26, 1924, in Pottsville to Allen William and Mary Emmaline Morphis Campbell.
He was a member of the Baptist Church, a United States Army veteran, having served in World War II, and retired as manager of the Russellville Parks and Recreation Department.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Michael Allen Campbell; his step-son, Jimmy Don Jennen; and one brother, Aubrey Lee Campbell.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Helen Campbell; four daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda C. Duffy of Russellville, Judy and Jeffrey Workman of Russellville, JoAnn and David Cecil of Temecula, California, and Carolyn Ann and Marvin Duran Davis of Richland, Washington; three brothers, Audie Campbell of Roseburg, Oregon, Cecil Martin of Sutherlin, Oregon, and Roy Martin of Weaverville, California; five sisters, Eunice Kay Morris of LaMesa, California, Mildred Stroud of Scotland, Arkansas, Sabie Williamson of Winston, Oregon, Betty O'Connor of Springfield, Oregon, and Mable Sue Brown of Vacaville, California; an uncle, Lee Campbell of Russellville; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 23, 2008, at the Pottsville First Baptist Church with Bro. Jim Huffman officiating. Burial will be in Pisgah Cemetery at Pottsville under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service.
Active pallbearers will be Jeffrey Workman, David Cecil, David Greene, Jason Workman, Johnny Martin Jennen and Tim Hardgrave.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening from 5 to 7 P.M., at the funeral home.
