ELSIE MAY OLSON (Granny)
Elsie Olson, 100 years old, born in Clearwater, Alberta, Canada on January 9, 1904, came to Vaughn, WA at the age of 6. She graduated from Vaughn Union High School, married Elmer Olson in 1922 and moved to Key Center, where they started Sunnycrest Farm on homestead land of Elmer's parents.
Elsie was always busy in the community with church, PTA, Upper Sound Grange, Key Peninsula Civic Center and charter member of Vaughn Bay Garden Club, Key Peninsula Historical Society and Historic Vaughn Bay Church. Elsie and Elmer moved to Vaughn Bay upon retirement.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Elmer, son Dr. Edmund Olson, 3 grandchildren, Gail and Mark Olson and Cheryl Niemann.
Elsie will be lovingly remembered by son Don (Shirley) Olson; daughters Phyllis Anker, Gail Sparks and Joyce Niemann; daughter-in-law Mary Alice Olson; 19 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to thank her caregivers Becky, Robby, Martha, Margie and Susan, who always showed loving care, especially during her last years. Special thanks to Dr. William Roes and his staff for all their care.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 9, 1:00pm at Vaughn Bay Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at Key Peninsula Civic Center at 1:30.
