Richard Bernice 'Bunny' Bair Sr., 73, of 155 Cartwright Road, St. Matthews, died Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002, at Richland Memorial Hospital, Columbia. Graveside services will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at the family cemetery, off Highway 601, with the Rev. Max Kaster officiating. Mr. Bair was born Jan. 3, 1929, in Orangeburg, a son of the late J.S. Bair Sr. and Goldie Vessey Bair. He was retired from the Greenwood Mills Orangeburg plant. He attended Calhoun Baptist Church and was a member of the former Garden City Baptist Church in Orangeburg. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Jean Baltzegar Bair of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. Jerry (Debbie) French of St. Matthews; son and daughter-in-law, Richard B. 'Rick' Bair Jr. and Paula Hutto Bair of St. Matthews; three brothers, Z. A. Bair of Orangeburg, Earl Bair of Mount Pleasant and Gary Bair of James Island; three sisters, Dorothy Vickery, Mildred Vickery and Margaret Shaffer, all of Orangeburg; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. © The Times and Democrat, Orangeburg, SC, 9 Aug 2002
