He was the son of Fred H. and Nellie Marie (Spitler) Ayers. He married Maxine E. Bell, who preceded him in death.
Surviving are two daughters: Gayle (Harry) Kinnison and Dianna (Gailen) Wilson, both Greenville; four grandchildren: Thomas (Peggy) Lucas, Melinda (David) Crowe, Kyley (Jay) Pearson and Korey Wilson; and five great-grandchildren: Madysen Crowe, Christian Crowe, Austin Crowe, Leah Crowe, Connor Pearson.
Deceased are two brothers: Byron and Darrell; a sister, Alene Anzack.
He was a veteran of the US Navy having served during WWII. He had worked as a tool and die maker at NCR in Dayton for 28 years then retired from Fram/Allied Signal, Greenville, after 10 years. He was a member of the Greenville Grace Brethren Church.
Services will be at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home, Greenville, with Pastor Danny Wright officiating.
