Clay Douglas (Doug) Holt, passed from this life into eternal rest Friday, Aug. 9, 2002, after a courageous battle with cancer.

Doug was born May 21, 1931 in Claiborne County and was the son of the late Lewis and Stella Meyers Holt. He served in the Army Chemical Corps.

He was a graduate of Vanderbilt University, retiring from ECPI in 1987 after 31 years of service as a chemist. He was a member of Colonial Heights United Methodist Church, a 50-year Mason currently with Sinking Creek Lodge 575, Scottish Rites and the Shriners.

Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Patsy Wagner Holt; two sons, Michael (Nikki) of Church Hill and Stephen (Lori) of Kingsport; one grandson, Clay Douglas Holt II; three granddaughters, Jessi, Kelsie and Grace; one step grandson, Ryan Gurley.

Calling hours are from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Carter-Trent Funeral Home, downtown Kingsport.

Services will be conducted 7 p.m. today in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Kathy Hale and the Rev. Robert Smith officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday at Tri-Cities Memory Gardens. Friends and family will meet at the cemetery at 12:50 p.m.

Honorary pallbearers will be Don Gabriel, John Isenberg, Bill Cox, Carl Babb, Norman Castle, Joe Zannucci, Jim Fleming and Barry Williams.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Colonial Heights United Methodist Church, 631 Lebanon Road, Colonial Heights, Tenn.
