Funeral service for Mrs. J. C. Mays was held Friday afternoon at the Baptist Church, and Coffey Funeral Home made interment in Hugo Cemetery.

Mrs. Mays, formerly Miss Emma Ethel Parish, was born Nov. 3, 1890, at Enloe, Delta County, Texas, and she and her husband had made their home in Choctaw County the last 40 years. In ill health several years, her condition became serious after she was notified of the death in a motor vehicle accident in England, of her son, Pvt. Weldon W. Mays, in April. She died at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Surviving are her husband and these children: Mrs. Arlie Nash and Newman Mays, Houston, Texas; Mrs. Erma Harris, Raleigh, Tenn.; Mrs. Lois Sample, San Diego, Calif.; Miss Estelle Mays, Miss Carrie Faye Mays, Ellis Mays, J. C. Mays, Jr., and Edwin Burl Mays, Hugo; seven grandchildren, and these brothers and sisters: Mrs. Fannie Burthay, Mrs. Kittie McCoin, and Mrs. Jamie McCoin, Paris, Texas; W. L. Parish, Durant, and Joe Parish, Dallas, Texas.
