WOOSTER -- Elton N. Blair, 79, formerly of Wesley, Pa., passed away Tuesday evening, Aug. 18, 2009, at Smithville-Western Care Center.He was born March 10, 1930, to Loyal C. and Dorothy E. Blair on the family farm in Irwin Township, Venango County, Pa. He was a 1948 graduate of Wesley High School and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War on the USS Fremont APA 44 in the Mediterranean.He retired in 1992 from Joy Manufacturing in Franklin, Pa., as an assembly mechanic of underground coal mining machinery. He enjoyed traveling to sprint car races and was an avid snowmobiler and hunter.Surviving are a son, Dana, daughter-in-law, Trudi, and grandchildren, Brittany and Bryce, all of Wooster; brothers, Lee (Mary) of Franklin, Pa., and Dick of Harlansburg, Pa.He was preceded in death by his parents.Visitation will be today (Thursday) from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at McKinley Funeral Home in Clintonville, Pa. Funeral services will be Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Hickory Grove Church of God Cemetery.
