Betty touched many lives with her kind, gentle spirit and friendly, positive outlook on life. She retired last June from her career as a microbiologist, having been honored for 30 years of service at Diablo Valley College.
She was born in Calico Rock, Ark in 1941, coming to Martinez in 1943 with her family. She graduated from Alhambra High School in 1959, having married Ernie Rogers in late 1958. After her daughter and son were born, she chose to embark on her well loved career by attaining her Bachelor's degree at Cal State Hayward, and accepting the position she loved at Diablo Valley College.
