Robert O. Aller of Rehoboth Beach, DE, died Wednesday, May 17, 2006, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. He was 76. Mr. Aller was born March 26, 1930 in Dayton, Ohio, son of the late Olen A. and Carolyn R. (Lewis) Aller. He was a 1953 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, Md., and was commissioned into the U.S. Air Force, where he served for 10 years. He began his career in the Air Force as a navigator on a B-57 aircraft. During his time in the Air Force, he was a graduate student at the University of Michigan and served at the Satellite Test Center in Sunnyvale, Calif. After his discharge from the Air Force, Mr. Aller worked on the manned space flight programs for NASA in Washington, D.C., and ended his 29-year career with NASA as a deputy administrator for the TDDRS program. He and his wife lived in Bethesda, Md., for 29 years before relocating to Rehoboth Beach 13 years ago. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. Mr. Aller was a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Rehoboth Beach. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nancy (Rife) Aller; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert C. and Colleen Aller of West Chester, Pa.; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Cynthia (Aller) and J. Frederick Thornett of Bethesda and Carole (Aller) and Douglas F. Brennan of Camp Hill, Pa.; a sister and brother-in-law, Iva Lou and James Smith of Dayton, Ohio; and nine grandchildren, Michele Thornett, Lyndsey Thornett, Christopher Brennan, Bridget Brennan, Kelly Aller, Erin Aller, Kateland Aller, Robert Aller and Brian Aller. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 27, 2006, in the Lutheran Church of Our Savior, 7 Bay Vista Road, Rehoboth Beach. Pastor Donald Schaefer will officiate.
