Joseph W. BARRETT, 83, of 720 North Kansas, died Thursday morning in Countryside Manor following a three year illness.
He was born Sept. 4, 1885, near Pawnee Rock, Kan. He was married to Clara THOMAS, Sept. 14, 1909, at Pratt.
Mr. and Mrs. BARRETT moved to Stevens county from Pratt where he farmed until his retirement in 1945 when they moved to Liberal.
He was a member of the Methodist church.
He is survived by 3 brothers, William BARRETT of Radium, Kan., Virgil BARRETT of Hutchinson, and Vernon BARRETT of Great Bend; 1 sister, Mrs. Beulah WOLVERTON of Denver, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife June 6, 1959, and one brother and one sister.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday from the First United Methodist church by the Rev. Everett MITCHELL. Burial will be in the Liberal cemetery.
Friends may call at the Campbell-Kitch chapel this evening and until 11 a.m. Saturday.

!MISC: No children. - Joe worked at Summers Auto Shop before he began farming. He was also a professional wrestler.
