THREE OF KIRKLAND FAMLY DIE IN RICHMOND DISASTER
Killed in the explosion at Richmond Saturday, were Mrs. Fred (Virginia) Kirkland 38, and two daughters Robin Elora 11 and Kelly Ruth, 8, of R. 2, Cambridge City. Mrs. Kirkland was operator of Virginia's Beauty Shop, South 6th Street, Richmond just around the corner from Marting Arms Sporting Good Store, center of the blast. Fred Kirkland, husband and father of the deceased was treated at Reid Hospital and released. A son, Tracy Joe, was on an errand for coffee for his mother when the explosion came. He was returned to the home just west of Pershing by two unknown volunteer workers.
Services for Mrs. Kirkland and her daughters, Robin and Kelly, were held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday (today) at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in East Germantown, with Rev. Orville Hendrixson officiating.
Burial was in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, in charge of the Stegall-Berheide-Orr Funeral Home, Richmond.
Survivors include: her husband, Fred; two sons, Tracy Joe at home; and James of Noblesville; one daughter, Mrs. Jennifer Lynch of Indianapolis, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Conley, R. 2, Cambridge City; three brothers, Sidney Conley of Centerville; Albert of Connersville and Reuben of Richmond; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Tine of San Antonio, Texas and Mrs. Virgil R. (Jimmie Sue - hard to read name but that is what it looks like) Davidson, R. 2, Cambridge City.=
