David R. Brenneman and hiswife. Connie, of Huntingdon,and a son-in-law. Vernon R. Spillman of Alexandria. Mr. Brenneman is survived by 14 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter. Connie Spillman. and one great-granddaughter. The last surviving member of his immediate family. Mr. Brenneman was preceded in death by two brothers. William
and Robert, and also sisters. Florabelle Kyper and Theresa Kidd. Mr. Brenneman was of the Methodist faith.During World War II he
served in the United States Army with Battery A of the 103rd Field Artillery Battalion as an artillery mechanic. He served during campaigns inNew Guinea, Northern Solomons and Luzon, and received the Arrowhead American Defense Service Metal. Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one bronze star and the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal with three bronze stars. Mr. Brenneman was aboard
the SS President Coolidge when it was sunk Oct. 16,1942 while entering the Port of Espiritu Santo Vanuatu in the South Pacific.
He was a member of the William P Spyker American Legion Post 520 Alexandria, Petersburg Catering Club and the Alexandria
Volunteer Fire Co. He was a 1937 graduate of Huntingdon High School. A farmer for many years in the Alexandria area. Mr. Brenneman
retired from Mead-Westvaco in 1985 with 31 years of service as an electrician. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday. Jan.16 at Hope Methodist Church in Alexandria with Pastor William D. Benson officiating. Interment will be made in Alexandria Presbyterian Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Mr Brenneman may be made to Home Nursing Agency Hospice 9492 William Penn Highway. Huntingdon. PA 16652. Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert E.Peters Funeral Home,Huntingdon
