Virginia was a free spirit. Her heart was as big as the outdoors. She was the middle child of five born to Virgil R. and Stella M. Elliott. She grew up in north Omaha and married first to Thomas "Tommy" Wolf of Maryland. She traveled with him to Baltimore where his family lived. Their happiness, however, was cut short when Tommy died in a car accident. She later married Theodore "Ted" Hansen with whom she shared the rest of her life. She never had any children, but thought of her nephews and nieces as her own. Speaking from experience, I always looked forward to her visits because she made me and, I believe, all of us feel special. She devoted time to and for us.
She loved family and was not as excited as my Mom (her sister Viola) and I when I would find a skeleton in our family closet. She would say, "If they had wanted us to know this stuff, they would have told us." She was a great daughter, having taken care of her mother, Stella, after her father passed away. She was a great sister; my mom and she were best friends and never missed a day talking, at least a little, on the phone. Family was all in all to her. She did, however, sometimes carry a grudge a bit longer than she should have, which she attributed to her Danish roots.
When Aunt Virginia died, so did a piece of my heart.

Her sister Viola (Elliott) Baker and brother Raymond Elliott are buried near her, as are her parents Virgil and Stella Elliott. Virginia's maternal grandparents Hans and Petrea Madsen are buried up the hill from her, as well.
