Homer D. Barfield, 56, resident of 3048 Terry Road, died Saturday morning at his home following an extended illness.
Mr. Barfield, born and reared in Joaquin, Texas, had been a resident of Jackson for the past 12 years.
He was a member of Leavell Woods Methodist Church. Prior to his illness he was an employee of Knox Glass Co.

Survivors are his widow, Mrs. Zelma Taylor Barfield of Jackson; three daughters, Miss Donna Sue Barfield of Jackson, Mrs. Joe Moone, Jr. of Flora and Mrs. James T. Sandifer of Pineville, La.; two sons, W. K. Barfield of Jackson and H. D. Barfield of Terry; two sisters, Mrs. G. M. Harris and Mrs. D. R. Weaver, both of Jackson; one brother, Mills Barfield of San Diego, Calif.; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday from Baldwin Funeral Home in Crystal Springs with Rev. David H. McKeithen, pastor of Leavell Woods Methodist Church, officiating with Rev. E. R. Quattlebaum of Terry assisting.

Interment will be in Terry Cemetery.

A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. from Leavell Woods Methodist Church. Active pallbearers are 0. A. Guest of Pascagoula, Elmo Jordan of Hazlehurst. M. M. Butler of Jonestown, R. R. Harris, Jackson Harris and Wilton Little, all of Jackson. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. W. H. Buck, Dr. Wm. M. Suttle, Dr. David J. Van Landingham, Jr.. Ben Fairchilds. M. E. Chatoney, Roy Martin, Homer Edgeworth, W. T. Upton, Earl Page, Caley Stegall, Carlton Rutledge, R. L. Sandifer, D. D. Weimer, Joe Moone, Sr., I. T. Richardson, W. A. Richardson, O. H. Paul and employees of Knox Glass shipping department.

A Joint funeral service will be held Saturday afternoon for Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Barfleld, Leavell Woods, who died as a result of an accident Jan. 14 near Rayville, La. Mr. Barfield. 80, died Wednesday and Mrs. Barfied, 76. Friday, at St. Francis Sanitorium, Monroe, La. At the time of the accident, they were returning with their daughter, Mrs. D. R. Weaver, from a visit with relatives in Marshall and Joaquin, Tex. Mrs. Weaver was seriouly injured and has been moved to Baptist hospital, here. Mr. and Mrs. Barfield were natives of Texas and lived in that state for 30 years. In 1923 they moved to Bethesda Community near Crystal Springs where they lived for 25 years. For the past five years, they have made their home with their daughter and son-in-law. Mr. and Mrs. G. M. Harris, 220 Carolyn avenue, Leavell Woods. Mr. and Mrs. Barfield were the oldest members of the Leavell Woods Methodist church. He was caretaker of the building. On Dec. 30,1950, the couple celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary and Mr. Barfleld's 80th birthday. Four children survive: N. M. Barfield, San Diego, Calif.; Homer D. Barfield, Crystal Springs; Mrs. D. R. Weaver and Mrs. G. M. Harris, both of Jackson; 13 grandchildren; six-great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. One brother, R. P. Barfield, Marshall, Tex., survives Mr. Barfield. Mrs. Barfield leaves three sisters, Mrs. J. H. Buckner, Beaumont, Tex.; Mrs. Bud Smith and Mrs. H. J. Lewis, Joaquin, Tex.; three brothers. D. R., R. S., and W. F. Rhamyes, Joaquin, Tex. Services will be held from the Daniel Memorial Baptist church, Terry Road, at 2 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. J. S. Conner will officiate assisted by the Rev. W. W. Bevel, the Rev. J. E. J. Ferguson, the Rev. T. B. Winstead, the Rev. W. E. Todd and the Rev. W. F. Whaley. Interment will be in Bethesda church cemetery. Crystal Springs. Remains will be at the home of Mrs. G. M. Harris, Leavell Woods Saturday morning.
