Jay Michael Burton, 69, of Terre Haute passed away Thursday, January 21, 2010 at his residence. The 1958 graduate of Graysville High School was born February 24, 1940 in Graysville to Garland Burton and Isa Doris Smith Burton. He was retired from Amax Coal Co. Jay, was also a farmer, a member of the Rio Grande Baptist Church and the United Mine Workers. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son Michael Burton.
Survivors include one daughter Jill Burton, Avon, two brothers Jack Burton and Joe Burton both of Terre Haute, a special friend Sandy Jones, Terre Haute and other relatives. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Holmes Memorial Chapel in Sullivan with Rev. Ron Riggs officiating. Burial will be in the Center Ridge Cemetery, Sullivan. Friends may call from 4-8:00 p.m. Monday.
