Jane was born in Sodus, Wayne County, New York on August 15, 1925, and was the 6th of 7 children of Adrian and Sarah (Boise) Hermenet.
She graduated in 1942 from Sodus High School. On April 12, 1947, she was united in marriage to Daniel Lewis Hoy, son of Alfred Edgar and Ocie Fern (Shively) Hoy, at the Presbyterian Parsonage, Newark, Wayne County, New York. To this union 3 children were born, a son, Dennis Avery; and two daughters, Marleigh Ann and Kathy Jean.
In 1963, the young family moved to Omaha, Nebraska, where they raised their family.
Jane's last job was with the Nashua Corporation in Omaha, from which she retired after 20 years of dedicated service. Jane enjoyed flower arranging, playing solitaire, doing word search puzzles, talking on the phone and going out for Sunday rides to visit friends and family or just to see all the beautiful fall foliage, and then stopping for ice cream on the way home. Jane led a simple life and held her family close to her heart.
Jane was called home at 9:05 am, on Saturday, September 8, 2012, with her daughter, Kathy and husband, John lovingly by her side, after a short stay at Methodist Hospital, Omaha. Her passing was peaceful when the Lord came and wrapped his Loving arms around her for her final journey home and to be reunited with her family.
Jane is preceded in death by her beloved husband Dan of 59 years in 2006, her daughter Marleigh in 1976, and her son Dennis in 2002. Also preceding her in death, are three brothers, Harry Henry, Alfred J., and Frank Adrian Hermenet; and one sister, Frances Elizabeth Hermenet.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathy and Husband John Eltiste of Omaha; 3 grandsons, Brian, Brandon (Mandi); and Ben (Alison) Hoy all of Omaha; a sister, Ila Waite of Rochester, New York, and a brother and sister-in-law, Ray (Argie) Hermenet of Hampden, Massachusetts; a sister-in-law, Eva (Jess) Hoy-Haelen, of Rochester, New York; 5 great grandchildren, Christian Joseph Hoy of Gretna, Coleson William, Brynna Avery and Vada Kae Hoy, and Josie Taylor Hoy all of Omaha. Also by two step Grandsons, Michael (Kim) Eltiste of Weatherford, Texas; and Christopher Eltiste of Omaha, and three Step-great grandsons; Christian and Brock Eltiste of Weatherford, Texas; and Kadin Eilers of Gretna, Nebraska. She is also survived by many nieces & nephews, and a host of many friends.
