CAPT. SONDERBERG, OLD PILOT, IS DEAD

Handled Wheel on Third District Ferry More Than Thirty-Five Years.

The remains of Captain Peter Sonderberg, who died in Chicago Wednesday, arrived in the city Saturday night and were placed in the funeral parlors of Jacob Schoen and Son, Elysian Fields and Chartres streets. Services will be held at 10 o'clock Sunday morning in St. Vincent de Paul's Church and burial will be in St. Vincent de Paul's Cemetery.

Captain Sonderberg was born in Denmark seventy three years ago, and came to America when a young man. He was one of the oldest steamboatmen in the country. For more than thirty-five years he was a pilot on the Third district ferry. Six years ago Captain Sonderberg gave up his lifetime occupation to take up residence with his daughter, Mrs. Robert Moore, in Chicago.

The aged river pilot was in good health until last week. He was ill only three days when death took him.

Besides his daughter, Mrs. Moore, he is survived by the following children: Mrs. Harry Stone Oswald of New Orleans, Herbert Sonderberg of Mobile, and George and Albert Sonderberg of Chicago.
