He is survived by wife Betty Irene (nee Adams), whom he married on March 5, 1949.
He was born in Dunbar on May 18, 1928 to the late Bismark Stanley Barkley and Lillian Rose (McMillan). He lived in Elma for 16 years, as well as in London.
He was the loving father of ------ [four children] . He will be dearly missed by his 10 grandchildren and one great-grandson. He is survived by ---- [one brother] of Pickering and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister Janice Morrow and brothers Edwin and Garnet.
He was an elder at Harmony Community Church. He was a great singer and guitar player, and recently he and Betty joined with Don Morrell to form the group, Best of Friends Trio.
He retired from the air force in 1967, He worked in car sales until age 65, then worked with the RCMP.
He served his community with generosity, his country with pride, his family with patience, and his church with humility. His passing we mourn, his memory we cherish and we commend his spirit to God who gave it.
Friends were received at the Parker Funeral Home in Morrisburg on Jan. 5. The funeral service was held at Harmony Community Church in Winchester on Jan. 6 with Rev. Bruce North officiating. Visitation was held at the church before the service.
Interment was at Maple Ridge Cemetery in Chesterville. Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Harmony Community Church Memorial Fund would be gratefully acknowledged.
Pallbearers were Rev. R. Juthman, Rev. R.E Votary, Rev. A.R. Leavitt, Rev. Darren May, Rev. Bert deBruijn and Rev. J. Wallace. Honorary pallbearers were Walter Green and Don Morrell."
