Leslie Robert Corbett was born 27 Oct 1913 to parents Flora Leah (Holeman) and William Harvey Corbett in rural Allen, Ok.

He told about hiding in the water under a bridge across the Muse (sp?) river at night when they were being fired on. Les's main job was driving a supply truck. He learned that war had ended when he was the lead truck on a road in Belgium and a farm lady came out waving a hankercheif and standing in road to stop the convoy of trucks. She told them the war was over. He had to stay in Belgium for 2 months after war was over waiting for transport home. His service ended Oct 1945.
He married Elsie M. Boxler in 1964, after many years of being single. They lived many years in Henderson, Nevada.
He worked for El Paso Natural Gas company for 30 years.
The military story was told to nephew Allen Corbett.
Surviving are wife, Elsie Marie of Hawthorne; stepdaughters, Eva Walden of Spray, Ore.; Marian Briney and stepson, John Amaral, both of Grants Pass, Ore.; 15 step-grandchildren and many Corbett nephews and nieces.

Leslie had a great humor. He & I had a chance to get reacquainted in his later life, as we visited over the phone about our lives and family histories. We spent time trying to nail down the final burial of his grandmother Corbett. Carol has taken this up over years and still has not found a location. (2023)
