Former Watertown Woman, 89, Joined Society When Building Stood in Factory Street

Mrs. Harriet Lawton Williams, widow of the late Ebenezer Williams, died Thursday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. H. C. Kenyon of Mexi­co, N.Y., aged nearly 90 years. Death followed a short illness. She was the oldest member of Stone street Pres­byterian church of this city both in age and in years of membership, hav­ing joined when the church stood in Factory street.

She was born April 27, 1831, in Floyd, Oneida county, the daughter of Fabius and Katherine Lawton. She moved to this city when a child and had always lived in and near Watertown until the past few years. She was married to Ebeneser Williams, Sept. 27, 1864, by Rev. Peter Snider, pastor of the Factory street Presby­terian church. Mr. and Mrs. Williams lived on a farm in Pamella. To them were born four children, Eben, who died when a small child; George and Stedman who have died recently, and Harriet, with whom she made her home. Mr. Williams died about 21 years ago.

She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Kenyon: a sister, Mrs. Alwilda Kenyon: five crandchildren. Mrs. Arden Kio of Mexico, Mrs. Harold A. Pohl and Harold E. Williams of the town of Rutland: Prank and Arthur Williams of Fonda and six grandchil­dren.

The body will arrive here Saturday the funeral to be held in the after­ noon at 2 from the Stone street church, Rev. S. A. Hoyt officiating. Burial will be made in Brookside cemetery.
