Funeral Service for Henry Lee Bouey, 86, Fern Park, FL, who died Sept. 22, 2011 in Longwood, will be 11 a.m. Sat., Oct. 1, 2011 at New Bethel AME Church, Altamonte Springs, FL. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Casselberry, FL. Viewing will be from 9 a.m. until service time at the church on Sat. Mr. Bouey was a native of Fern Park, FL. He was a graduate of Crooms Academy and attended Bethune-Cookman College. He was a retired Horse Groomer for Ben White Raceway. Mr. Bouey was a World War II Army veteran. Survivors include his sons, Gregory Bouey, Nathaniel Bouey, Tolliver Bouey, all of Altamonte Springs, FL, Emerson Merritt, South Carolina, Arthur Lee Martin, New York; daughters, Vanessa Merriman, Maitland, FL, Yarda Dawkins, Sanford, FL, Valarie Bouey, Rochester, NY, Rena Washington, Tennessee; brothers, James Bouey, Orlando, FL, Hurtis Bouey, Milton Bouey, both of Altamonte Springs, FL, Kenneth Carwise, Live Oak, FL; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; seven great-great grandchildren; one great-great-great-grandchild. Henry Lee Bouey, better known to most as Doc, was born December 22, 1924 in Fern Park, Florida to the proud parents of the John Henry and Henrietta Inez Moore Bouey. On September 22, 2011, God called Doc home to eternal rest. Henry (Doc) attend the Seminole County Schools and graduated from Crooms High School in Sanford, Florida. Upon graduating from Crooms, Doc enlisted in the United States Army and was Honorably Discharged in 1946. Doc was an amazingly talented and smart young man. Upon being discharged from the Army, Doc was awarded a basketball scholarship and for a short period of time, attended Bethune Cookman College. Doc eventually decided to take another road, messed around and met, and married, Maggie Lee Green.
And the two lovers/best friends began to express their eternal love for one another for over 50 years until Maggie was called by the lord to help prepare for her husband's arrival.
Doc had always worked and provided for his family for as long as the Lord allowed. For over 40 + years he was employed as a Groomer for some of the greatest horse racetracks in the United States; Such as Ben White Raceway, Johnny Simpson Raceway and many others until he eventually retired.
Doc was preceded in death by his loving wife, Maggie Lee Green Bouey.
