On May 16, 1929 the late John Louis & Emma Eleanor Morgan Moore were blessed with the birth of a daughter. She accepted Christ at an early age. As her life progressed, she attended schools in Brunswick and Lunenburg Counties. "Ruth loved people and people loved her." She was always willing to help others. She had a passion for church and gospel singing.
She was preceded in death by a daughter Dolly Moore, her brothers Sammy L. Moore and John Morgan, three sisters: Mary B. Morgan Neblett, Emma Lillian Morgan, and Grace Lee Saunders; and nephew Freddie L. Morgan and niece Pauline L. Saunders.
On May 11, 1954, she married the late Harvey Lacks and from this union four children were born.
In 1975 she became employed by the Lunenburg School System, at Central Senior High, until her retirement in 1993.
In March 1996 she began a different challenge - the most challenging - her fight with cancer. She gave it all her strength, determination and prayer. She fought until she could fight no more. If our mother could speak, she would say "Don't cry for me and don't feel sad, now I am in the hills where all of my help comes from."
She leaves to cherish her loving memories, her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and daughter-in-law all of Richmond, VA, one brother of New Rochelle, NY, a devoted cousin Lucy Meredith and one aunt Lucy Maddox, both of Kenbridge, VA; four nephews, four nieces and a large host of other relatives and friends.
