Youel (Yuel, Yowell, Yonel, Gonel) Pullen was born in 1797 in Virginia. 8 Jan 1818 he married Artimesia Hammon(d) in Fayette County, Kentucky. On 22 Mar 1820 he married Ann Wood in Owen County, Kentucky. He is listed as having a brother Fountain M. Pullen. He resided in Kentucky in 1820 (Scott Co) and 1830 (Woodford Co), and began acquiring land in Indiana by 1834. In 1837, Yonel and Fountain Pullen, brothers, sold one acre of land in Crawfordsville, Indiana to build a school. Youel was always listed as a confectioner. He had a store/saloon that served ice cream mixed with brandy, that he called a "seabreeze."

His exact date of death is unknown, but it is assumed he died before 29 Dec 1862, because his wife received a gift of land from her son, Sidney and his wife.
