Herman was the youngest of 9 children born to Karl Christian Bach and Marie Wilhelmina Plucker, raised in the small village of Rhoden, Germany. Rhoden is a small village outside the city of Frankfurt am Main in Waldeck. He moved to the nearest city, Frankfurt am Main where he married Marie Catharine Bourree. His one son, Carl Christian Bach was born there and the family migrated to the U.S. in the late 1800s. His wife Marie was eager to start a new life in America but Herman would have stayed in his homeland but he acquiesced. Herman's family was rooted in the village of Rhoden for over two hundred years. Herman learned the trade of a shoemaker in his village and made a successful career there and in Kingston, PA.

Obituary

Herman Bach, aged 66, died very suddenly at his home, 317 Chestnut Street, Kingston, this morning at 7 o'clock of heart trouble. He had been ailing for some time but nothing serious was thought of his condition until this morning, when he was taken suddenly ill and died before medical aid arrived. Bach was born in Germany and came to this country many years ago and located in Kingston, where he conducted a shoe shop which business he has continued up to a short time ago. He was well known in Kingston and was highly respected by scores of friends. His wife and one son survive.
