Born Nan Berry, she took the name Sister Mary Gabriel when she received the habit of the Sisters of Loretto on August 15, 1888.
She served in many capacities, including caring for influenza patients in the Eastern Kentucky coal mining region in 1918. She had been at the Saint Loretto Motherhouse since 1934.
She is survived by two brothers, George and Edward Berry; as well as her Sisters of Loretto.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Sallie Hagan Berry; and several siblings.
