'Roscoe' was a mascot of the 388th Tactical Fighter Wing at Korat Royal Thai Air Force Base (RTAFB) during the Vietnam War. He was born of 'mixed parentage' in Japan and brought to Thailand by his master, Lt. Ray Lewis, in 1966. In July of that year, Lt. Lewis did not return from a combat mission. The Wing adopted Roscoe and he remained with them for the next nine years.

See the attached 'obit' photo for more details of Roscoe's career. He developed heartworms later in his life, and died of a heart attack on Sept. 12, 1975, at the Korat Officer's Club, one of his 'favorite' places. He was honorary full Colonel and was buried with military honors in a specially built coffin in front of the Korat RTAFB Officer's Club. A monument to him stands there today (2012).
