Mr. Richard A. Bodle, 69, of 1941 Inverness Road, Montoursville, died Saturday, July 12, 2008 at his home.

Dick was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church of Williamsport. He had been a former church trustee and had also formerly been a deacon of the church. He was actively involved in helping to construct the church structure.

Mr. Bodle was retired from the United States Air Force with 21 years of service. He held the rank of Technical Sergeant. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Dick was a member of the Sampson Air Force Base (N.Y.) Alumni Association. He was a member of the last class of airmen to enter service from that facility. He was a member of the American Legion, Rolland Ritter Post #268 at Muncy, a member of the LeRoy O. Buck Post #7863, V.F.W. at DuBoistown and a member of the Veterans of the Vietnam War, Post 51 at Hughesville.

Mr. Bodle had been employed by Dixon Air conditioning and refrigerating and also by Pickelner Heating, both of Williamsport. He had also been employed by R. & J. Ertel, Inc., of Williamsport in addition to being self-employed as the owner and operator of the former Dick's Heating.

Dick had been a member of the South Williamsport Lions Club.

He and his wife, the former Grace A. Dittmar, were married on November 23, 1996. Together they shared 11 years of marriage.

Born October 26, 1938 at Loyalsockville, Lycoming County, he was the son of the late Doyle L. Sr. and Eleanor Fritz Bodle.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Grace A. Bodle at home, his sister, Arlene and her husband, Donald Butler of Mechanicsburg, his brother, Doyle L., Jr. and his wife, Peggy Bodle of Hughesville, his stepdaughter Linda A. Dittmar of Blossvale, N.Y., and his stepson Robert W. and his wife, Leah Dittmar of Muncy, his seven grandchildren and his three great grandchildren.

In addition to his late parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Lola L. (King) Bodle on September 5, 1994 and by his late son, Richard A. Bodle, Jr., on June 3, 2005. He was also preceded in death by his late two sisters, Nettie Jane Bodle and Joyce Barton.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2008 from the First Southern Baptist Church, 89 Kimble Hill Road, Williamsport. Pastor Kenton L. Hunt, his pastor, will officiate. Interment will follow at Waller Cemetery, Jackson Township, Columbia County.

Graveside military honors will be accorded by The Guard of Honor of the Korean War Veterans of Lycoming County, PA.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation on Wednesday at the church, from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.
