Dorothy Mildred Buchser-Christiansen, of Los Altos, at rest in Los Altos July 7, 2004. Dorothy was born June 6, 1913 in San Jose, CA the youngest of 11 children. She grew up in farm orchards with hard work and a lifelong dedication to education.
After graduating from San Jose State in 1935, she taught kindergarten for nearly 20 years in San Jose, Willow Glen and Sunnyvale. She loved strawberry ice cream.
Dorothy is survived by four children, Dorothy Ann Bankhead of Homitas, CA, Robert Arnold Christiansen of Los Altos Hills, Jean Mary Christiansen of Redwood Estates and Ruth Carol DeBello of Sebastopol, eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She is also survived by her 100 year old sister, Emma Holthouse. Dorothy joins her loving husband Pete Christiansen in peaceful eternity. Dorothy Christiansen was a great woman, person and a loving Mom.
Vigil services was be held July 11, 2004 at the Los Altos Chapel of Spangler Mortuaries, 399 So. San Antonio Road, Los Altos. Funeral Mass Monday was on July 12, 2004 at Saint William Catholic Church, Los Altos. Interment Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, Los Altos.
Donations to the Santa Clara Unified School District, Ponderosa School, to be used for field trips for the elementary school that she last taught at, 2065 West El Camino Real, Suite C, Mountain View, CA 94040 preferred.
