In 1932 two of the Conoryea brothers, Wilard and Norman, were very ill, having bronchial pneumonia, pleurisy and strep throat. Norman died Wilard survived. It was sad because Norman had only been married less then a year and his wife Hazel was eight months pregnant with their son. Norman died on the 25th of February and their son Norman was born exactly one month later on the 25th of March.
Norman never saw his child. Hazel lived with Sophie and Norby Conoryea for a while so they could help care for them. Tragedy struck again when Norman Jr was about four, 1936, he contracted encephalitis and the high fever left him brain damaged and crippled.
