Bennie Moyers, 56, wife of John Moyers, died Thursday in her farm home on Highway 216 four miles northeast of Iowa City, following a heart attack. She had been in ill health for several months.


Mrs. Moyers was born June 27, 1893, near Jonesboro, Term, the daughter of John and Isabelle Bowman Bacon. She grew up in the Hillsboro community and was married there January 1, 1991, to Mr. Moyers.


Mr. and Mrs. Moyers lived at Hillsboro until November of 1911, when they moved to Johnson county. They were farm residents subsequently in the Hills, Sharon and Windham communities, moving to the present home two years ago.


Mrs. Moyers was a member of the Pythian Sisters, the King's Daughters and the Unity Presbyterian church.


Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Mrs. Isabelle Smelser, Iowa City, one son, Clifton Moyers, Route 4; one sister, Mrs. Mary Galloway, Lone Tree; three half-sisters, Mrs. Julie Keebler and Miss Lois Bacon, both of Jonesboro, Tenn., Mrs. Ruth Anderson, Johnson City, Tenn., and half-brother, John T. Bacon, Jonesboro, Tenn., and three grandchildren.


Mrs. Moyers was preceded in death by one son, who died in infancy, and by her parents, one sister and one brother.


Funeral services will be held Sunday at the Oathout funeral chapel here. Burial will be in Memory Gardens.
