Susie Miner, first child of Erastus and Anna Miner, was born near Greeley, Iowa, January 14, 1891 and passed away July 15, 1944 at her home in Davenport.
She received her education in the rural schools of Buchanan County, Lamont High School, and Iowa State Teacher College. She taught one year in a rural school.
On June 1, 1910, she married to Ray Blackburn. To this union were born four children: two sons, Hubert and Richard who preceded her in death, and two daughters, Mrs. Benita Sankey, Fayette, Iowa and Mrs. Vernice Aspland, Clear Lake, Iowa. Ray Blackburn passed away March 22, 1927.
On September 26, 1940 she was united in marriage with L. L. Jenks.
Surviving her are her husband L. L. Jenks, her two daughters, her mother Mrs. Anna Miner, Marshfield, Wisconsin; three sisters and two brothers: Walter Miner, Seattle, Washington; Ray Miner, Glendale, Arizona; Alba Heal, Eagle River; Alice Gadson, Kentland, Indiana; Floy Gadson, Marshfield, Wisconsin
Mrs. Jenks was a faithful member of the Baptist church, the Baptist Ladies Aid Society, Lamont Woman's Club, a past oracle of the Royal Neighbors and a member of the Women's Auxiliary.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Kreusel Funeral Home in charge of Rev. Allfred Christenson. Mrs. Carl Durham sang "Abide With Me accompanied by Mrs. John Ehler.
Pallbearers were: Will Ehler, John Zuercher, Clifford Smith, Carl Durham, H. J. Toole, Earl Dopp.
Burial was made in the Campton cemetery.
