Nebraska, 28, son of Mr. and Mrs.
John Murphy, Sr.. of Le Mars, was
one of two persons killed in a one
car accident near Winslow, Nebraska,
on Saturday. November 24.
The two were traveling toward Fremont
on highway 77 and were near
Winslow, Nebraska when they came
up over the crest of a hill, hit a
patch of ice and rolled over twice,
the car landing on its top.
The two were pinned in the car
which landed on its top after rolling.
Murphy died of a head injury.
The two were traveling home from
Sioux City at the time of the accident.
The other man was James M.
Christopherson, 23, of Fremont.
Edward was born June 10, 1928,
in Le Mars, son of John Murphy and
Mary Cain Murphy. After his graduation
from St. Joseph's school
here he was employed by Mrs. Albert
Freymun on a farm and also
by an oil firm in Le Mars before
going to Fremont where he has been
a general insurance agent for the
past year.
Funeral services will be held
Tuesday. November 27 at 9:30 A.
M. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church
in Le Mars. Burial will be in Calvary
cemetery under direction of the
Wiltgen-Luedtke funeral home. Rt.
Rev. Msgr. J. ID. Fisch. Father Mervin
Hood and two priests, cousins
of the deceased will officiate at the
Solemn Requeim Mass.
Survivors besides the parents include
the following brothers and
sisters: John. Jr. of Le Mars: Francis
of Remsen, Rosemary who teaches
at Mapleldii; Thomas V. who attends
college in Sioux City. Maureen
a teacher at Rock Rapids; Sister
Mary Brideen. O. S. F. of Granville;
Sylvester J. of Le Mars;
Private Leo Murphy in the U. S.
Army at Camp Chaffee, Arkansas;
Helen. Theresa and Mary Francis
Cain living at home.
