Harry King Abbott, 80, of Yukon, was born near Grimes, Roger Mills County, OK on May 25, 1908 to Harry R. and Adeline Amelia Abbott and died Monday in the home after an extended illness. On Feb. 20, 1931, he and Alta Bea Dodd were married at her parents home near Rankin. Following their marriage they lived in Reydon and operated a laundry and grocery store. In 1937 they moved to Elk City, returning to Reydon in 1944. In 1956 they moved to Midwest City where he was employed as a custodian for the Wickline Methodist Church. They moved to Yukon in 1973. He had been a member of the Church of Christ for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Frank. Survivors include: His wife Alta; one daughter, Alleta Dodd, of Yukon; one son, Harry L., of Oklahoma City, OK; one sister Dora Mae Robison, Reydon, OK; four grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. in the Reydon Community Building, with Willard Cox and Bob Winslow officiating. Interment will follow in the White Rose Cemetery under the direction of Rose Chapel Funeral Service of Cheyenne.
