First Lieut. Lemoine W. Noling, of R.D. 2, Minerva, OH in Germany.
While serving in an infantry division of the Third army in Germany during World War II, 1LT Lemoine Welton Noling went missing on 25 Mar 1945. About five months later, still missing, he was declared killed in action on the first date. Lemoine was the son of James W. and Mary E. (Lee) Noling. He was born on 5 Sep 1921 in Carroll County, OH.
He graduated from Minerva High School in 1939 and The Ohio State University in 1943 with a B.S. Immediately following OSU; he enlisted in the Army and shortly thereafter married a high school sweetheart, Janet Shively. He was then shipped off to Europe.
Surviving Lemoine, besides his wife Janet, were his parents of R.D. 2, Minerva, OH; sisters Mrs. Gladys Marhover of Canton, OH and Leila Noling of the home; and brother Merl Noling of the home.
